First Post from my new Home, Bangkok

Ok so this is going to be a little out of order and a bit jumbled as far as grammar so I apologize in advance. (not like I use good grammar or even paragraphs anyway haha) When I was looking for Andrew at the Bangkok airport he had Aie (his girlfriend) come up to me and say “what up dickhead”. The funny thing is that a Thai limo guy was standing right next to her and was asking me if I needed a ride. So I thought for a second that this was a guy offering a ride and a girl to give a blowjob, until I recognized Aie. That’s when I started looking for Andrew, he was laughing his ass off. They both got drunk before picking me up that night. It was midnight when I arrived in Bangkok. They took me to Sukhumvit Road which is the prime business road in Bangkok. They stop selling beer here at 1AM. On the street you can still buy beer from the food venders. So we got some thai food and drank some beer. Here is a lot like Key West in the sense that its hot and humid. So when you get a bottle of beer you also get a bucket of ice. You drink it out of small juice like glasses so it doesn’t get warm. I had a small child wanting to sell me gum and a lighter since he say me smoking. He said you need lighter 80 baht (that’s $2.00) I was like no thanks since you can get on in seven eleven for about 10 baht or 25 cents. Then he wanted to sell me gum. I said no but he told me “No buy gum good for teeth” I couldn’t help myself I opened my mouth up real wide to show him I had no teeth in front and he made an ugly face and ran away. Hehe. The food here is great its cheap they give you plenty of it and you eat like 6 times a day. Thai’s love to eat a lot. It’s hard to understand why the are only 80 lbs when they eat a lot. The cabs here are usually about a buck or two per ride. That is very cheap compared to the USA. Hell it cost that much the moment you get in and start the meter in America. The second night we wanted to go bowling so we went to the mall. They also had a Cmart store (just like Kmart I swear it is crazy that they call it Cmart) Andrew was looking to buy a stereo and a washer/dryer for his new place. I also wanted to price TV’s and fans. The bad part was there is like 5 guys hovering over you trying to sell you stuff. It bad at Best Buy in St Louis I hate sales men there, but this was crazy. We didn’t find anything really so we went up to the next floor where the bowling alley was. It was the most elegant bowling alley I’ve ever seen. Nice expensive couches instead of plastic bucket from the 50’s like in America. I beat Andrew again in bowling as always. I was told it was $5 US per game it turned out that you can bowl all you want from 9pm to midnight for $2.75 US. Plus the waiter comes over and pours beer and servers you food while you bowl. The third night we went to look at an apartment for Andrew and stopped in this Irish pub to have a pint of Guinness. 180 baht for a beer ($4.25) I didn’t like that that’s too much. Plus it was all white people no Thai’s. We went to get seafood right down the street from my apartment afterwards. It look like an American dinner in a way but they had all kinds of seafood. The lobster was 1800 baht per kilo. Now that’s like paying $45 for a 16 ounce lobster! Needless to say I had crab that’s way to much for a lobster. I had Curry crab to be exact. I never would have thought that curry and crab would taste so good. We had soup, a whole fish (head and tail cooked crispy trust me it looks bad but its great) That meal was $30 which is a bit high for me, but it was 3 people and way more food than we needed. At the end they brought out bowl with water and limes floating in it. Andrew tells me it’s a Thai desert and to try some its good. That asshole it was not food it was to wash your hands after dinner. Makes sense since I used to use lemons to clean the fish smell off of my hands in Key West. Well that’s about all for now. Andrew is on his visa run in Cambodia today. He left at 6AM and returns at 5 PM. He just found out that the apartment didn’t have high speed internet, so I think he will be a bit of a bitch when he gets back. You can look at the pictures I took Here They are a bit dark and I didn’t take many.

End of Line

I’m unplugging the PC right after this post. I thought I’d make my last St Louis post right before I unplug for a 24 hour period. It’s been awhile since I have been offline for a whole day. When will the day come when I have a decent hand held computer that works like my desktop? Why didn’t I go to school to be an engineer. I guess I’ll price a modded Xbox in Bangkok while I’m there. That would end my all in one media box. I could play anything from DVD/CD to straight DVDR/CDR data disks full of movies and music. The New 360Xbox is said to be coming out Nov.6 or somewhere around there. I doubt that would affect the original modded Xbox price. Anyway next time I’ll be typing in Bangkok.

It’s Almost set in Stone

Well I sold the car to my father yesterday. I’ll be on schedule for getting to Thailand in the first week of August. I got a box to pack my PC in I just need to make a list of things I’ll need to take. It will be a short list since most things can be bought there cheap. I should get a good pair of sandals before I leave since I do have a size 12 shoe and most Thai people don’t have feet that big. I should get a book for the flight also. I still need to get my mom online so she can keep in touch. It won’t be long and these post’s will be coming from Bangkok.

Google Earth

What can I say but this is one more reason to love or fear google. I’m leaning to love but hey who knows that might change. Google earth can be found Here. You can download it right Here If you just want to see some of the sight seeing place to explore here is where they can be Found Here. This is of course free. It powered by Keyhole the software used by news stations to do those slick fly in shots when covering a certain place. The do have a upgrade version that combines GPS for $20 a month plus a comercial version as well I think its in the hundreds per year. The best part is that it takes google map and puts into a stand alone program that allows you to find places to eat, sleep and play. Its a 10 Mb download so thats not too bad for you 49% still on dial up. There is a great sightseeing site called google sightseeing The siteis down right now they are changing servers but Its a great place to see shit without google earth.

Been a While Since I Posted

Have to move up the departure time for Thailand. My friend is getting a new apartment and I have the chance to take his over but I have to be there by the 4th of Aug. It would save me a bunch of money on the deposit and the DSL installation. So I figure I ought to sell my car since I really don’t need one when I get back. I can ride that $300 bike I bought 4 years ago and get some exercise since I sit in a chair all day when I work. I’m glad to be leaving sooner but I am nervous that the car won’t sell. I’m sure it will it’s a great car and I’m not asking much
