Time to get a chair

I was looking over laptops reviews. I noticed the $800 models didn’t cut it. If I bought a new laptop it would be more in the $1000 to $1200 range. I got to thinking Shit I might as well buy the Aeron chair I wanted for about 3 years now. I know you can find them on ebay for like $500 to $600. Then I thought about it. They are used. Thats not a bad thing except they are like 10 or 12 years old now. If I happen to get one thats that old I might as well spend a few hundred more and buy new one for like $850..

Thats when I found the executive model. It has the chrome base and frame, the PostureFit package and is highly adjustable. Oh and leather armrests which I could give two fucks about. I need to talk to the sales guy about the chrome deal. I see it listed as a polished aluminum package. I’m hoping its polished aluminum VS chrome plated. Now its only $250 more for the executive model Thats not too bad. Total form officedesigns.com is $1179. thats free shipping.

If you think I’m nuts consider this. I sit in my chair for 8 to 10 hours plus a day. They hold their value for years, make thats decades later (they are a work of art). Last but not least I can write it off on my taxes.

The Slanket

Wow this would have been nice….two months ago! I bought an ellectic blanket to wrap up in this winter while I used my Computer. This would have came in handy. Its basicly a blanket with sleeves. Everyones been nice and wrapped up and had to then stick their arm out of the blanket and then wrap it around them in a way to basily have the arms out yet wrapped tight ot keep the rest of you warm. I have at least. Its a pain. Your constantly adjusting your blanket from falling off. Too late this year its already the end of March. I might get one next year. High priced $65. Check out the website for Slanket Click on the different colors to the right of the pic to see it in other action shots.

A must for any gamer/laptop user with bad heating

Ok I finished the new Layout here

I went in a totally different direction from the one I had in mind last night. This one is really simple. I might change the fonts and title and link colors. Right now the link hover is just an underline.

Might have to hit F5 a few times if the theme doesn’t change.

Yeah Yeah I Know not Again

I’ll be working on this new theme some in the next few days. I don’t like the colors. Not sure what I’ll change about it. Still have to change the sidebar a bit too. Plus round off al four sides of the sidebar box instead of just the two being rounded
Got into searching a ton of Japanese website on design like PingMag I wanted to get away form the look of the default wordpress theme. I wanted the rounded content box look. I’ll be shading the content boxes out and making it look more sleek and simple. I want to do a behind the rounded boxes too.

New HBO Show Big Love

Well I was taken off guard with this new HBO show. I didn’t even hear one thing about it. One of the down sides of not watching it on the tube where your bombarded with promos and in house ad’s. Casting is great. Bill Paxton (weird Science’s Chet “You’re stewed, buttwad! “ and “I’m gonna tell Mom and Dad everything. I’m even considering makin’ up some shit!”CLASSIC) Chloë Sevigny (Kids, Gummo, and of course The Brown Bunny where shes sucks cock on camera in the film”{Porn style”) Jeanne Tripplehorn (One of the only good thing about Waterworld something about her eyes) Harry Dean Stanton ( My lord I’m just glad hes not dead by now. I had yto check hes fucking 80 years old already. He’s looked 70 as long as I can remember and that goes back to Aliens in like 79′)

Mark Mothersbaugh scores and or composes for it as well. I didn’t know he was the guy from Devo when I was listening to the Rushmore soundtrack. I just remember seeing the title “Hardest Geometry Problem in the World by Mark Mothersbaugh“ and thinking this is a guy that spends way too much time in his studio with his keyboard (which might be true). I had read about him in the Riverfront times back in the mid nighties. He apparently has a massive post card collection. He had a showing of it at this Washington Street art studio and I had that night off, but an eight ball of cocaine took presidency and I missed it. When I mean missed it I mean I was a half a block away and 4 stories up from the place getting high in a loft listening to Bowie and talking dribble. He had scored “Bottle Rocket” a year or so before that. I had no idea he was still involved in music. I figured he was sitting pretty on the Devo money and buying and collecting post cards.

I can’t describe the show any better than the HBO site does so here is their summery of the show

“Think having three wives is a dream come true? Meet Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton), a modern-day Utah polygamist who lives in suburban Salt Lake City with his three wives, seven children, and a mounting avalanche of debt and demands. The owner of a growing chain of home improvement stores, Bill struggles to balance the financial and emotional needs of Barb, Nicki and Margene (Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin), who live in separate, adjacent houses and take turns sharing their husband each night. While managing the household finances together and routinely sharing “family home nights,” they try to keep simmering jealousies in check and their arrangement a secret — polygamy is illegal in Utah and banned by the mainstream Mormon Church. Adding to Bill’s woes are a series of crises affecting his parents (Bruce Dern and Grace Zabriskie), who live on a fundamentalist compound in rural Utah, and his ruthless father-in-law, Roman (Harry Dean Stanton), the powerful head of the polygamist commune where his parents live. Bold, funny and wholly original, Big Love explores the evolving institution of marriage through a typical atypical family.”

Nude Britney Spears Giving Birth Statue

This falls into my new WFT tag category. The source is send2press.com

BROOKLYN, NY (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — A nude Britney Spears on a bearskin rug while giving birth to her firstborn marks a ‘first’ for Pro-Life. Pop-star Britney Spears is the “ideal” model for Pro-Life and the subject of a dedication at Capla Kesting Fine Art in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg gallery district, in what is proclaimed the first Pro-Life monument to birth, in April.

Dedication of the life-sized statue celebrates the recent birth of Spears’ baby boy, Sean, and applauds her decision of placing family before career. “A superstar at Britney’s young age having a child is rare in today’s celebrity culture. This dedication honors Britney for the rarity of her choice and bravery of her decision,” said gallery co-director, Lincoln Capla. The dedication includes materials provided by Manhattan Right To Life Committee.

Taxes and Big Ass LCD Monitors

Man I lose all my tax info when I had to reinstall windows a few weeks ago. Good thing I did I just did my taxes again and saved 50% on what I owe. I had adjustments to make that were different than what I entered in the first time. Plus I think my earned income credit was off the first time. I don’t owe any state tax.

Also I decided to go with the Dell 24 inch LCD monitor verses the 30 inch one. The 30 inch is around $2000 and the 24 inch ones are generally around $1200 to $1500. My logic was fuck at that level might as well get the 30 inch. The Dell 24 inch just dropped to $800 because they are coming out with an identical model but with HDCP.

Well it all comes down to this the HDCP. (High Definition Copy Protection) Which means when the HD DVD’s come out I would need HDCP to play them on my PC. They want control on HD content at the hardware level now not the DVD level. Now the 30 inch has HDCP the 24 inch I bought does not. So what if I don’t have HDCP is what I’m now thinking. I found out my graphics card doesn’t support HDCP (none do right now anyways) and you also need a HDCP compatible motherboard. This means when I upgrade my PC this next time (in about 2 years) I can worry about all this. For now I’m going to take advantage of the nice $800 price on a good 24” LCD. Of course for $1500 I could have bought the apple Lcd of the same size which is hehe svelte.

Fastr: a Flickr game

I foudn this little site online and wanted to share it. the name of the game is fastr. tehy show yoiu pictures from flickr and you guess the tag for the photo. The faster you are the more points you score. I played for a few rounds and placed in the top 20. 4th I think but with one a score of 184. they average you top 5 rounds I was getting about 50 to 60 per round so if I played longer I should have got a 350 to 300 score. The top scores per day are around 1000. I think I could have had better scores if i could spell half the time. I miss all sicne i spell shit wrong.

CuteOverload

I happened to be chekcing out the Beastie boys site for their upcoming concert DVD. They handed out 50 camera’s and had the fans shoot it. The DVD is called Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That I went to the links tab and noticed it was chucked full of strange links as expected. From Kotex and pampers to scrabble and the match Game. So then I see cuteoverload.com This is jsut great. its a nice site dedicated to cute cats and other animals. Very well done. Its shall I say modern and not like early 90’s cat pic website style.

Moral is:you never know what you’ll find when you click on the “links” button on a site
They poster fo for the Beastie Boys DVD and some of my cuteoverload picks below.

USB Drive Key Chain Mod Using Female USB Connector

I noticed that most USB drives even when marketed as “key chain drives” have the loophole on the back end of the drive. Making for bad design and extra weight on the drive when plugged in.

USB Flash Drive Key Chain Mod

I decided to make this “cap” for my USB drive so I could put it on my key chain. I noticed that most USB drives even when marketed as “key chain drives” have the loophole on the back end of the drive. This would mean you would have to have the keys attached to the drive when its plugged in. Thats too much weight and just bad design. I just took a female USB plug end from an extension cable and slightly modified it.

I don’t like the color or the size of the female connector. I might look for one that would make a sleeker looking cap. Then again I’m more function than fashion.
Next I want to take my USB SD memory card reader for my camera card and do the same thing. Then I cold just stick my spare card in there and have a place to keep my extra card when I’m out and about. I’d still have to lug my extra battery around.

writely.com

I was beta testing the website writely.com that google just bought. They bought it pretty quick I might add. Its only a few months old if that. Its an on line word processor. You might say why? Well I said that too since I used to use MS Word then switched to Open Office. I thought about it and said well it might be nice when your not on your own PC. I have to say its just as good (for the basic shit I do) as Open Office. The spell check works great. Its not in “real time” but hey so what that’s what site upgrades are for right? no writley. hehe man that was lame.

This is the screenshot of me writing the last post and spell checking in writley

writely

I would like to also add that multible persons can edit the doc’s writen with writely. thats a twist and a great function. Not for me but for many I’m sure. All the docs can be exported and imported as well as stored online.

ABC to broadcast online in april

Well folks I knew it was coming and its about fucking time. I’ve been waiting for about 2 years for on line broadcasting. ABC announced that they will “test” on line broadcasting of its show in April with commercials and 8 hours after they air on regular broadcast TV. That’s fine I don’t mind commercials. I mean as long as I can choose the times that I can watch them that’s cool. I’m hoping i can fast forward them but doubt it. I’m also hoping the quality is at least as good as the itunes versions for sale at the itunes store. I have been spoiled a bit watching high Def rips of Tv shows lately. I hope I can manage the lower quality. I do watch Frontline on line at PBS.org its rather low quality and also real mediaformatted, which sucks ass. I should say it sucks ass at full screen, but come on who doesn’t want to watch shit full screen. So in my Ultimate Fighting voice “Lets get it on!” as opposed to my Marvin Gay voice.

Well I just upgraded my DSL to a 6 Mbit line

I’m paying about the same price as I did 2 years ago for 1.5 Mbit DSL. I can’t complain. I use the internet A LOT! To break it down heres what the speed increase is.

Download Speeds:

Dial up 24k : 3.5 kbs

Dial up 56k : 7.5 kbs

DSL 1.5 Mbit : 170 kbs

DSL 6 Mbit : 620 kbs

Thats 3.63 times faster than what have now and 80 times faster than dial up!

Lets break it down by downloads

Average Music Album : 1 to 3 minutes

30 minute TV show (20 minutes minus ads) : 7 minutes

60 minute TV show (40 minutes minues ads) : 14 minutes

Movie (in 800 MB compressed size file) : 32 minutes

Movie (4.4 GB in DVD size or ready to burn DVD copy) : 2 hours 40 minutes

Internet Browser moving at the blinck of an eye without a progress bar :

PRICELESS!
