Got a New T Shirt

Was impressed I went for the cheap $1.50 shipping. Ordered it on Wed and got it Fri. The quick delivery was almost as cool as google.

I’m been learning how to play a few songs on guitar. I’m starting at the low end of difficulty range with

The New Guitar

I bought it off a friend yesterday. I thought it was an Epiphone Casino, turns out it was the Wildcat. The Casino’s body is symmetrical where this model is more or less a Les Paul looking body but semi hollow body. Either way has a fat distorted sound and is pure Rock N Roll

There goes the Neighborhood

I just read that textamerica is going to a paid membership only policy. I have been a member for almost 2 years now. Granted I don’t post there anymore, but I will lose all my photos. I stopped uploading there when I stopped using my cell phone. It was a perfect way to send pics to the internet form my phone. All I had to do was email them and there they were on my page.

I still have flickr thankfully

You can see my textamerica pics until July 1st at http://tim7423.textamerica.com/.

Destroyer’s Rubies

Forgot to mention I’m listening to Destroyer’s latest album Destroyer’s Rubies. Got it right as I was leaving Bangkok and didn’t get a chance to listen to it much. Its got a Lou Reed and/or Ziggy era Bowie feel vocally. A touch of John Cameron Mitchell from “Hedwig and the angry inch”, too. Destroyer is the solo effort of Dan Bejar of The New Pornographers. His lyrics have many references to other songs and his own songs.

Destroyer steaming music from the offical site

Plus all the great live concerts from NPR

Destroyer - Watercolours Into the Ocean

Listening to “Strawberry Wine” for the 131st time, it was 1987.
It was spring.
Now it’s 1987 all the time…

Were you even there?
Too thin, too fair, downing your third drink.
Standing at arms length in the square, just off a mildly successful killing
rampage where good writers go to find one thing and stick with it.

Oh, life - it’s bigger than a life on the run from the United States and her
friends on This Night made of jewels.

It took three carabinieri to peel him off the streets of the town
she’s named after.
Dragging the lagoon was a disaster.
They found him alive and relatively well…

Some situations seek redress.
Some songs just go - “testing, testing…”
I took a picture: I was sick of motion…

And wore her watercolours into the ocean

Do I look Puetorican to you?

I went out last night and got asked 3 times if I had a brothers or was someone else. I get that sometimes. I think I fit a common male brunette profile somehow. In the last 5 years I’ve been getting the you look like Benico Del Toro often. I always get confused on that one. Lots of lady’s find him sexy and all. I just think really that ugly fuck? Plus hes almost 40 and looks about 45 so maybe that bothers me a bit too. They always have that goo goo eye look when they say I look like Benico so I guess its not a bad thing.

Also just downloaded this documentary “Metal a Headbangers Journey” by Sam Dunn is a 30-year old anthropologist and metal fan. I guess I’m going to go watch it now

You decide

Let me tell the story of how I found online photo printing

I was at walgreens ordering up prints from digital SLR. I was told it would take a whole day to print my photos. I had used the one in walmart a few times and I was expecting it to print them on the spot. Pissed me off a little bit and I said ok walgreens piss of I’ll go online.

I knew flickr offered print in some fashion so I checked it out. They offer printing with QOOP. They are out of Texas. I just had to selecting which flickr pics I wanted printed and choosing a size and finish Then the site told me it would take 3 to 4 days to process then 6 to 9 days for ground shipping. I’m thinking ok lets give tis a try. Sounds like a long time but maybe its not such a big deal. I haveto say the price was perfect about 20 cents a print including shipping. I ordered them on Mon or Tues and the got to my door on Friday. Thats fucking amazing. It puts a big smile on my face every time I can do another mundane task online instead of running out and wasting all that “drive time”

Also the prints were on Fuji paper and excellent quality. Colors were as close as I could have imagined to my photoshop post processed photos.

I also want to mention that most of the consumer photo printer you can buy are junk. I have yet to see a consumer photo pinter that prints anything close to a good commercial print. Yet another way to sell ink. The cost is about the same 20 cents a print

Perfect Rainy Sunday Morning Song

Elvis Costello - Alison

Oh it’s so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl.
And with the way you look I understand
that you were not impressed.
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
take off your party dress.
I’m not going to get too sentimental
like those other sticky valentines,
’cause I don’t know if you are loving somebody.
I only know it isn’t mine.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.

Well I see you’ve got a husband now.
Did he leave your pretty fingers lying
in the wedding cake?
You used to hold him right in your hand.
I’ll bet he took all he could take.
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
when I hear the silly things that you say.
I think somebody better put out the big light,
’cause I can’t stand to see you this way.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
My aim is true.

I stumbled across my music backup form Bangkok and found my Elvis Costelle (or Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus I would have changed my name too) greatest hits. Only about 5 songs were not corrupt. So I’m downloading 5 albums from 77′ to 81′ the only ones worth downloading really.

I’m a Hairy Bastard is that Manly?

” Roanna Says: June 8th, 2006 at 2:25 pm e If I saw you riding something like that, I would laugh so hard. Sorry. It’s just, so, unmanly to see a guyon oen of those. I’m laughing already just picturing it. Sorry!!!”

Oh Roanna thats was the most hoosier thing I’ve ever heard you say. I can’t believe you made that comment. I would have to argue that riding a scooter would show just how secure a man is in his manhood. Proving my manhood or how manly I can be isn’t even worth my breathe. Plus does that imply that women mainly and driving a scooter is feminate? In most of the other countrys in the world they are very common.I’m not upset by the comment but more shocked at the ignorance.

Hoping I matched your harshness and not crossed the line. Let me lower myself by posing this question. Is this manly?

Oh Stella

So I found out the schwinn is one of those Chinese made scooters. I’m not falling for that twice. The last Chinese scooter I had was a piece of shit. Even the Harley Davidson trained mechanic that worked at Honda for years couldn’t understand why it was running like shit all the time. He then went on to tell me the shop he worked for sold a lot of them that had trouble.

So I went searching for something more reliable. I found Stella. They sell the at St Louis Vespa in the CWE on Delmar. Suggested retail of $2,999 new which is about what I was willing to spend on a old Vespa or Honda. The first review of the scooter said “It is like Honda built a Vespa-and that is quite a compliment. “ Thats all I needed to read.

I figure by mid or late Aug I should be able to buy one get plates insurance and all that shit.I spent more money than I expected last month. I also didn’t leave much cushion in my bank account when doing so. I want to wait till I have double the price of the scooter before laying down that kind of cash. I usually do wait till I have more than what I plan to spend before buying things. Last month I just got the camera faster than I wanted to because my old one broke. Then the trip was short notice also. Seems like I’ll never get my office chair or remodel my office space.

On second Thought

So yeah I’m thinking I could save some money and just not shift. If I converted my bike to a single speed it would be the same as not shifting. Minus the bragging rights. Which I can do without. I rode today in the same gear and it was fine. One exception when I was rolling out at higher speeds I shift into a faster gear on the crank side. Its a 21 speed so I was switching between 13th gear and 20th? Either way It was pointless to not kick it up and gain speed since I was pushing the cranks harder in the faster gear anyways. All the benefits of pushing harder in a slower gear up hill still applied. I think I should just invest that money into so better handle bars. I have a bike thats a hybrid or sorts. Its a mountain bike / cruiser. The only thing that makes it more of a cruiser is the high gooseneck and bars.

Sidenote: Looking for parts I found out Schwinn sells scooters. Most of them are 49cc but they make 2 models that are 150cc both 4 stroke. Both around 2,000. Not a Vespa but half the price. This is winter planing. Driving a scooter in the winter might not sound like fun, but doing 35 mph in 25 degree weather is much better when it takes you half the time  it does to pedel it.

Price of a good Days Workout? Shiftless.

So outside the DNA bar in SF I saw a Mod in a suit pull up to at 1am on a old school 10 speed. The thing that caught my eye was the sticker. ONE FUCKING SPEED. Sure enough it had one small gear on back.

Lets make something clear. I don’t like to workout. I hate to run, unless being chased. I never got much exercise beyond work and skateboarding. (I sit a t a desk now) I have always enjoyed cycling. Even when I was younger. I just had to stop when I moved to the country with all those small roads. I can only think of two reasons to take a good mountain bike with gears and make it non shifting. Bragging rights and building endurance. I can really get into the endurance part. I realy like the burn. Even being a heavy smoker I still feel 20 times better when I ride hard and often. Not to mention freaking the Sunday riders out with a One fucking Speed sticker. Somewhere I read less gears more beers. Makes sense. Guess I should check out the price to convert mine at the local shop up the rode.

Even My Loose Schedule gets Changed

Missed the Rock N Roll Craft Show today. I’ll hit it up Sunday. I forgot I had my cousins college graduation tonight. I had to rearrange me schedule to fit and the craft show got pushed off.Back to drinking. I have to say after drinking everyday for almost a week I missed it. Well sort of. I mean when I got home it just felt like something was missing. Like sort of a withdrawal twitch I guess. This is the drinking side of the family tonight so should be fun. All my cousins are younger all 18 or so of them. Yeah its also the Catholic side of the family.

I’m going to practice my pushy guy with a camera act tonight also. I never shot people years ago when I had a SLR camera. I have been trying to change that. People tend to either get nervous or ignore you. Either way they just think your some geek with a camera till the see the results.

My income is coming to a grinding halt. Its that summer slow down and the economy isn’t helping right now. Right now is the peak of the slow down or one of them I tend to think there is two one now and one in late August. All I want is to buy this one lens and pay back my friend for some of the room expense in SF. I should get that done in a week or two. Thankfully the lens is out of stock at any of the trusted online shops. The ones that say in stock are really out of stock and it won’t ship for months. I hear that sad story over and over. Its like buying from an online times Square camera shop, scummy scamming people.

Heres the rest and final upload of the SF pics. Most of the were on or around Height Street

The Airport Called

They said I need to take my shoes off again even if they are flip flops, no they said they found my wallet in the bathroom. They always end up there. If the thief has a conscience the end up in the bathroom, and if they are thoughtless bastards it ends up in the trash can. They cash was taken. A whole $10 bucks or so. I rarely carry cash since I use my debit card for everything. Everything else was in it. I of course canceled my card so I guess the just made off light. They should have taken the change since I had about $5 in change due the the dollar coins I had for the mass transit in SF.

There is a Rock N Roll Craft show just up the street from my place tomorrow and Sunday. Yeah I said Rock N roll and Craft in the same sentence. They have a few bands playing and its a group of crafty women that are the rockabilly type doing the show. Its at a corner with just a gas station so I’m wondering how its going to be laid out. I’ll be the old looking dude there with the camera.

Thanks for the info StLscooter yahoo group

Heres the link to the Rock N Roll Craft Show

I’m taking my sweet ass time uploading my photos to flickr. I am doing about 15 a day. I’m about 2/3 done now.Heres some of the highlights

Forgot to Mention

IU ended up losing my wallet in the STL airport after I landed. I was using a pay phone and left it in the pay phone cubical. It was gone a few minutes later. I canceled it right aways but there is a “ATM Charge” not withdrawal for $100 that shouldn’t be there. I need to check on that tomorrow. Bank better cover it if its not legit this time them assholes.

I want to finsih uploading my pics but its late. I like this one out of the ones I have already on flickr.

—————Update——————

I just got a message on flcikr about this photo. Funny thing is I was shit face drunk taking it. We would start drinking around noon and this is at sunset around 8pm or so. Thats all reflection of the sun setting on the building

I operate a personal Web site about Apple Computer’s retail stores, and noticed your colorful photo of the San Francisco store. Under the Creative Commons license, I’ve posted a copy of the photo on my Web site next to the store’s listing on this Web page:

http://www.ifoapplestore.com/stores/chronology_2.html

If you’d like me to make the credit line read some other than ‘tim7423′ just let me know.

Thanks….great shot!
