Head Recognition with the isight

My elbow and wrist got excited for a second. I look for anyway to keep both hands on the keyboard at all times. The trackpad on my notebook allows me to keep them rather close to the keyboard, but accuracy is an issue. Trackpads are just not that good really. Neither is the head recognition either in the accuracy area. Cool idea though.

I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts to get things done quicker. Simple example would be TAB and shift+TAB to navigate between text areas like the subject and body of an email or lines in a form when you are filling out personal info like email address ect. Also CMD/CTRL+C or for copy and so on. I think I might even try to keep track of how often I use my trackball VS my keyboard. Then see where I can improve on using the keyboard even more day in and day out.

You can check out his other projects here.

I’m currently waiting for his new Quicksilver interface Sliverflow Quicksilver is the other app that I use to keep those hands on the keyboard.

Yes I’m talking ANSI Art Again

I’ve posted many times before about this. This time Geek Entertainment TV covered ANSI art ata real art gallery.

They do great geek video podcasts. Irina Slutski has a nice female geek sense of humor too. Even covered the hip Hop Chess tournament and interviews the RZA on one episode. Shwe even makes RZA laugh!

youtube Streams and Chat

Its an interesting idea. Watch youtube videos with others and chat live. It also allows you the option to add videos to the “stream” from a youtube search. Most of the stuff is Anime, why I have no idea. Not the youtube integration I’d like to see. I personally would like to see apple Front row integration like there is in AppleTV.

Check out Youtube Streams

Grammarian

Man I just installed a powerful spell and grammar checker. It was slightly a bitch to setup. Also has a built in statistics shortcut. Statics you ask? Yeah I thought the same thing. It is statistics and interesting.

The software is a bit pricey at $39 Grammarian

My Notebooks Loud, You Bastards

I mean really loud. Out of the blue last night the fan started making this horrible noise. Sounds like the bearings are shot or going out. Seems to only kick in when the GPU gets hot or is under load. Im going to take it apart and see if it just needs cleaning. I’m guessing it needs to be replaced. I check and they are not cheap. $50 to $60 online and some places are out of stock.

I couldn’t get a good audio recording of it since listening to the playback to hear a recorded noise when the same noise is still present is impossible. So here is a video on youtube that sounds exactly like mine does now.

UPDATE:
I booted into windows and fired up a game to test to see if GPU load really caused the fan to sound bad. This is when I figured out that the fan sounds much better full speed at 6000 rpms VS the default normal. Don’t get me wrong its still broke.

Heres where Iam going to buy the fan from since they say its in stock welovemacs.com

This is the place that has the illustrated guides for taking apart macs and they sell the fan, but they are out of stock. ifixit.com

Los Angeles Times Blog

The LA Times used a photo of mine online a few days ago. Again an odd choice of photo for the article. I understand they are searching the creative commons on flickr, but I would think there would be better photos to use than mine. I also noticed this is the second “green” article that used my photos. I didn’t know that saving the earth was still popular. CES is apparently reflecting this with almost every company displaying their “green” products. Its a good thing I guess for electronics. Not a lot of people know how bad a lot of the materials are in electronics. Not only do they pollute China when manufactured, but make a mess when we throw them out to the trash as well. Anyways its more about marketing than saving the earth.

Heres the link to Los Angeles Times Blog The Emerald City section. Get it Emerald Green.

Didn’t Know Adagio Had a Profile on Me

It just lists teas I’ve bought. Well sort of I’ve removed 3 that were bad. A couple of the ones with fried fruit made my tunny sick. I’ll be trying the Vanilla Green this next time around

I Couldn’t Make This Shit Up

So a stranger started a skype chat with me tonight. I tend to mess with them like I would with a telemarketer when I’m bored. I would sometimes get a telemarketer call and wait till they are done giving me their pitch then ask them, “So, what are you wearing?” or “Are you touching yourself?” I was polite with this stranger on skype. I was just blunt and honest and to the point. It was rather strange that I was not asked at any point to invest in some scam or buy porn from some site like they normally do. Which made me think this was a real person randomly chatting someone. Which is why I choose to make the point that its not a good idea to talk to strangers instead of mess with them. I’m also guessing its not really someone from FL and someone that hardly speaks english. you thought my grammar and spelling was bad hehe.
