Everything went fine

I watched the guy making shit for about an hour. Then when I jumped on the line I fell right back into it all. The guy training me even went out of his way to mention at he end of the shit that I did a lot better than most of the people hes trained over the past few months. So everything worked out good.

I’m a bit nervous since I have not worked for anyone but myself in like 4 years and I have not cooked in almost 10.

Yes!

I have my scooter back at home. Its going to take me a full day or so to wrap my head around having back. My mind set is so off. I needed food and smokes and was thinking to myself, “wait till its dark out it will be cooler to ride the bicycle.” Then it took about 15 minutes for me to realize I could just go now on the scooter.

I hope your not in denial

Its coming. I found out two people I know are out of jobs tonight. Good jobs at that. I’m not naming names, but shits hitting fans across this country hard. Not you, maybe not yet. Buckle down. Fortunatly I’m a surviver and I saw this coming a year ago. I was in a bit of denial myself, but its not easy to let your business die and go get a job. I’m going to save every nut and acorn I can and pounce in 2012. Maybe. If nothing else I will have some savings. Eat your SUV’s bitches. I dealt with a recession after high school and so will you kids. Aren’t you glad you spoiled them. I know how to get by, will they? I know how my generation reacted. The black kids sold crack and shot each other while the white kids got hooked on heroin and wore flannel. I can only imagine whats coming.

Perfect Timing

I got this in the mail form my web host

“Hello,

Some bad news. We are leaving the hosting business. We will be closing this server down on Wednesday.
You will owe no past due fees. Wish you the best. Please be sure to transfer everything off by Wednesday.

Thanks,
Matt
BPH”

Got that on Sat at 1am. Good thing I was done with my web server or I’d be on a tight schedule to find a new host and transfer it all. Not to mention I was going to owe them $900 next month. One less thing to worry about. Now if I just hear form the guy that is working on my scooter today. ITs been 6 weeks of bad shit, I’m waiting and looking forward to the 6 good weeks.

Not Again

I woke up to the sound of my fan making that ugly noise again. It started making this noise from the left side this time about two weeks ago. Then the noise stoppeed, till this morning. I noticed nothing was responding and was locked up on my notebook and forced it to shut down. When I started it back up my RPMs read 0 on the fan. I thought for a second both had died. When I checked further It was just the left fan that was dead. So I just cranked up the right fan to max speed. It normally runs around 60 to 65 degrees Celsius in the summer under normal load(mail, IM, skype running and at idle) Then creeps up to 70 to 75 degrees when under moderate load (running any processor intense software movies, photoshop, final cut, ect) Currently with one fan its at 70 to 75 at idle. I’m afraid to even open itunes or watch a movie at this point. I should mention that crash point on the CPU for this notebook is around 80. I think anything over 85 is death to the CPU. 90 would defiantly make it an expensive paper weight.

So another $50 fan is in my future. At this point I have to pawning my camera or guitar. I’m out of options. The scooters still in the shop and I need to get working asap. I’ve been on a really tight budget as is. I can’t pull another $50 out of my ass.

UPDATE:
I tore inside my notebook. I was ready to retro fit my dead fan with the old noisy one that I replaced months ago. They are left and right handed so I would have had to pull the electric motor out of one and put it in the other. Still would have left me with a notebook sounding like a jet plane, but better than one that has have its cooling system running. Turns out it was a loose wire or ribbon connection. I noticed it was ever so cocked in the fitting. turns out a lot of stuff inside a notebook is held in place with scotch tape. Yeah I know sounds primitive. It comes out of the factory that way. I was daring and plugged the power in while the lid was off and tested it after connecting the ribbon again. The fan fired right up. I’m thinking When I got up this morning and heard the fan noisy I did what any ape would do and tapped it sort of gently with two fingers where the fan is. Of course this makes the noisy go away. I must have knocked the wire off when I did that. Tapping it does shake the fan up a bit and when the bearings are going out it will most of the time get the bearings inline again for a while.

49 cc Scooter laws in Missouri and St Louis

UPDATE: Buy a real sized bike you’ll want something bigger than 50cc later. This is a Note to people that found this with google.

State says a scooter has to be less than 3 brake horsepower to qualify as a motorized bicycle. So I’m willing to bet that 99% of the 49 cc bikes on the road in MO that that are not plated, insured, ect are illegal. Anyones encouraged to point out a 49 cc scooter that is less that 3 brake horse power.

I’ve read on here about people getting pulled over and how police don’t know the laws regarding the plate and 49 cc scooters. Well they might not know the law, but you shouldn’t really argue since technically most of you with a 49cc scooter are illegal by the 3 brake horse power requirement on motorized bicycles. People want to carry a piece of paper to show the officer that they are legal by state law. Well I am considering distributing the specific horse power of every know 49 cc scooter on the road to officers. Manufacturers are required to provide details of specs on bikes. It may not be easy to find on their website, but they have to disclose that info.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t be “outlaws”. Just stop pretending your legal.

Kymco Peoples 50 – 3.72
Kymco Agility 50 – 3.62
Vespa lx 50 – 4.2
Honda metropolitan – 4.3
Motofino 50 QT 6 – 3.2
Genuine Buddy 50 – 4.9
Genuine Rattler 50 – 4.9

THESE ABOVE NUMBERS ARE CURRENTLY IN DISPUTE

No info on yamaha yet. Still looking. Same goes for the Honda Ruckus

Please stop flaunting that you can technically park on sidewalks, ride in bicycle lanes, not plate the scooter, not get insurance, not register, not get endorsed with class “M”, not wear a helmet, ect. Technically most of you are required by law to do all of the above on your 49cc scooters. There nothing grey about the 3 bhp fact. Both the law and the specs on 49cc scooters are in black and white.

Its your personal responsibility to have your scooter legal. Its your personal choice to not get it legal.

Funny Story

I dropped the scooter off this morning. When Bobby answered his door he said,” Hey your the yellow Manco Hornet guy” Turns out he was the mechanic at the place I bought my scooter from in ‘03. We used to shoot the shit a lot when I was having massive troubles with that scooter. I couldn’t believe he remembered me. I’m not sure I would have remembered him. He put on a bit of weight, as we all have. I think he remembered my timbuk2 bag more than anything with the Mod target Who patch.

That was a bad time. I was basically pushed into buy a scooter that they knew was junk and needed to get rid of in their stock. The mechanic Bobby was the one that finally told me that model was a lemon. He even said today he was stuck working on so many of that model scooter that it drove him nuts. They were unfixable and the warranty was a joke. Basically wouldn’t stay tuned. It would only do 20 mph instead of the 35 mph it used to do.

Still Stiff

Its been 3 almost three weeks since I had my tooth extracted and I still can’t open my mouth right. I can’t even get a finger in between two molars in the back. It’s defiantly muscle, joint or tendon related. It also does not hurt. It opens up slightly after I start to eat a bit. I can’t even get a hamburger in my mouth, it won’t open wide enough.

I’ve had plenty of experience getting teeth pulled. I’ve never had stiffness last this long. One week or maybe two at the worst. I am seeing no sign of improvement so far. I had to google deep to find that it can take three or four months to get better. Ever sight that said this also said that if after 4 months its not getting better to see someone about it. They said that with repetitive extractions this is more common and especially on the bottom. Makes sense since thats the jaw bone not the skull.

It doesn’t feel dislocated so I’m hoping it’s the muscle. If its the tendon its going to take more than 4 months I’m sure. I severed a tendon in my index finger about 8 years ago. On the inside second knuckle from the top. It had almost no movement for about a year. After about three years I had half the movement back. Sometime after 5 years I got most of the movement back. Its still very stiff and I feel pressure when I move it. Its also completely numb. Im guessing thats from nerve damage. It felt odd when I severed it, and still does. Sort of creepy like somethings lose in there. My jaw feels more like a muscle problem than a tendon one, but I’m not sure.

I’m not a doctor and I don’t totally trust google for medical treatment. I only use it as a buffer when deciding to make an appointment. If I don’t hear the word fatal I wait an appropriate time span.

Waiting on a Mechanic

I have to have my clutch worked on by a mechanic. Its just a tad out of my ability. Which is frustrating enough. Most days I am able to fix things when I have proper tools, parts, and instructions/manuals.

I’ve been calling this guy for 2 weeks now. He comes highly recommended from the local scooter crowd. I understand being busy and what not. I just don’t appreciate the whole tale of call me tomorrow when it really means call me in 2 weeks. Shoot it straight with me for fuck sake.

This may just sound like typical whining, but its not. Everything going on in my life right now is dependent on that bike running. So many issues right now that are priorities are not getting done because of this situation. A job being the main issue. The uncertainty of not knowing when I will have bike is the biggest problem.
