Route Change

Turns out the place we were riding to was right before 109. So we didn’t have to take 109 at all.

Heres the new route we took. Much more scenic

Google Map Route

52 miles round trip. We went riding on a train. I’ll post pics when Kurt emails them to me.

Happy 4th Anniversary

Its been 4 years this month since I started this blog. It was an exercise in discipline. I thought not only would it give me a platform to learn how to design a website and maintain it on the server. It also let me brush up on my writing and typing skills. At the time I thought I was going back to school. I figured I needed to practice writing and typing. Four years later my typing is up to about 60 words a minute and my writing has improved. Not that I’m a “writer” by any means. I just notice when I get emails sometimes that some people still write like a 4th grader. I’m not writing award winning shit here, but its at least readable, to the point (most days), and grammatically ok. The main thing it taught or re-taught me was to do drafts and proof read everything. Something I only did in writing classes in the past. I never proof read things I wrote.

Riding Sunday to Eureka

Heres the route

Google Map of Route

Old State Road should be fun on the way home. Its all up hill if I remember right.

Also changed the design finally. Only took me all summer. Honestly since I stopped working with design a few months ago I just didn’t have any interest in re designing my site. I just got really sick of looking at the default theme and made one last night. Tried to make the background look like urban camouflage. Sort of looks like it. Looks like a cross between digital and urban camo.

Painted the New Battery Cover

I could only find a red battery cover. So I had to paint both the covers white. The clear coat didn’t cover well. It is going to get scratched up. Still looks better than if I left it red. The tires still wobble a bit. I’m almost positive I mounted them right. There is a line on the tire near the rim and its even on both. Maybe the rim is out of wack. It feels like its the front tire. The thing is I know the back rim needs slight adjustment. Maybe the tires are just off.

Bikes almost done

I got my tires in today. I am going to be putting those on and straightening the right foot peg this weekend. After that I will have all the damage repaired from the theft. Everything except the battery cover. Which is still the one thing that pisses me off. A friend said its a shame I can’t find the guy that stole it just to ask for the cover back. You know if that guy has that cover he can sell it on ebay for close to $100. I would even buy it. Its probable on its way to a land fill which is sad.

I’m getting a lot of hits on the blog from out of state people. If anyone runs across a blue battery cover for a 1981 Honda c70 let me know.

Second Coming

Why is there no MTV of the early 80’s on the internet now. 24/7 videos. The record companies could use some good marketing. Its an open market on the internet in that realm. Everyones seen a youtube video, so people know how to watch video online. Send it to your phone even. People must be fools. I think people still care about music and videos. Its just that they are not available to the masses anymore.

Tires Again

I know I bored some of you with the tire talk, but I have more info. After recovering my stolen scooter I noticed my rear tire is now twice as bald as it was before. Its at the point where I wonder if I should be riding on it. Having one of the two tires your riding on blowout is very bad. So I call around again hoping to find one in stock. I was told that a lot of the tire factory’s are closed. They were closed for the Olympics. Including the tire factory’s. China was trying to clean up the air around town and shut down pollutant factory’s. I hear it didn’t help much. It surely doesn’t help me.

I got it Back

Found at the 4600 block of Farlin near Lee. Was a 19 year old kid they pulled over. Officer said he saw a young guy on a scooter and suspected it was stolen. He said you don’t see many scooters around that area.

Hers a google map of the location it was found at.

http://tinyurl.com/3u95ms

Ok there is some damage as expected. I bought it in almost 100% original parts, so I’m a little upset about not being able to keep it all original. I am thankful I have it back at least. At least now I have an excuse to put aftermarket stuff on it and not feel guilty about ruining the “original” aspect of the bike.

Disconnected the speedometer cable for some reason. Oddly enough the guy I bought it from gave me an extra. What are the chances.

Mild damage from laying it down. Not much damage wise, but thats a $100 part and most of them are in thailand and on ebay. 6 to 8 weeks shipping.

Right battery cover missing. They sell after market ones, but only in white. The blue ones go for about $60 to $100 a piece on ebay. Hard to find.

Both mirror got broke. Not sure why or how this happened.

I had already bent back my signal lights. They were really bent up bad.

Bent the left foot peg. I should be able to bend it back. Or beat it back into shape.

Missing the air breather cover. Not sure why its missing either.

The dangling ignition that can now needs a screw driver to turn. I expected this. I also replaced it once when I broke my one and only key. Easy fix.

Most of the damage is electrical. The tail lights and blinkers don’t work. I’m hoping they either blew them out hot wiring it or they broke when it was throw into a truck. Either way I am capable of working on the bike, but electrical work is not one of my strongest skills. Also the brakes are almost shot. They are completely mush now and squeal. Not sure how that happened. They had more than 60% of the pads left. I just checks a month ago. It still runs like a champ. It is truly one of the most indestructible bikes ever made. Bless you Honda.

Not really going South

I was just very upset last night and still am. I loved that bike. It was like my version of a 55 chevy or a 64 Mustang. Classic and vintage. Its defiantly one of those stand out bikes. Changed many things in the industry and was Honda’s first success.

I’m giving up on the job at the diner. Too much crime down in that area. I was followed home once and was almost scooter jacked at a light at 1 am a few weeks ago. A guy not far from where I almost got jack was jacked and shot. Its just not worth it. I’ll be looking for anything close to my house for a new job. Just until I can afford a used vintage Honda CB from the 70’s. Sort of done with scooters at this point. At least around here. STL is not scooter friendly outside of the crime factor anyways. So I’m going to save for a motorcycle and just bit the bullet. I’m not really into speed, but a motorcycle has advantages. 0 to 60 in 5 seconds and top speed of 140 mph. Nobody is fucking with something that can get away that fast.

My Scooter got Stolen

I was parked on S Grand at CBCG’s. It was taken between 2am and 3am. I walked a half a block up the street to a 3am bar after CBGB’s close. It was gone when I returned.

I can’t stress enough how much this fucks me. If I sold everything I own I could maybe afford a 2,000 dollar bike. Riding a bicycle or taking the bus to work is not really an options. I hate my job as is. I would become volatile at work and get fired if I was taking the bus or pedaling to work. Many of you will think I’m stupid for not taking the bus or riding a bicycle to work. I’m sorry I’ve been there before and I’m not doing it again. “I want to travel south this year.” Quoting Alice in Chains. I would really rather start walking with all the cash I have south to a warmer place and be homeless. ” tears that soak A callous heart”. My luck has been so bad my entire life that I just don’t feel much anymore. Everything becomes primal. I stay away. I stay calm and wait. I just wait for it to be over.

Man Zappos.com rules

I have been putting off getting new Vans shoes for a while now. I bought hte laced up low top classic navy blue Vans instead of the slip on ones. Anyways. I opted for the free 3 to 5 day shipping VS the $15 next day shipping. Then out of the blue I get them the next day. I got them 23 hours after I ordered them. Thats amazing. I’m used to 2nd day shipping, but 24 hours is nice. Especially when free.
I just can’t say enough good things about zappo’s.

Nothing New

Except the news this morning at like 6 am at work. A returning server spent 3 weeks in jail. He had an argument with his neighbors and he was wielding a broadsword at some point. NICE! In full Ninja outfit I would have been fully impressed. Ninja hide. Ninja not go to jail. I am dying to know what this disagreement was that brought out the big sword.
