Playing with Photoshop CS4

It came out a week or so ago. I had it for a while and didn’t bother upgrading to it. I hate trying to figure out the new or changed features. So for me playing around with it is the best way to figure it out. So far everything has been positive. Nothing changed that I don’t like. I have not done any photography work with it yet. I’ll get to that soon.

I had a set of grunge brushes I have also been meaning to play around with. I’m not a big fan of grunge in general. I prefer a more clean design. I got inspired by this one site that did a decent job using a grunge look on some papers on the top header. So I decidedto make an old worn out looking Ace of Spades. Then I thought what the hell they call Andrew Ace so why not put him on there.

I was going to do a Halloween one, but I just can’t do a pumpkin

Cuddle Fuddle

I got turned on to this song yesterday from a twitter post. The rest of the album/EP is really good too. I can’t find the song anywhere on youtube or online. The bands called Passion Pit.

Cuddle Fuddle has everything I’m into at the moment. Stomping compressed drums that seem flat yet correct, distorted synth piano and soulful vocals from the 70’s that make you want to go sailing with a bottle of wine and make pointing hand gestures like Isaac from Love Boat.

This is the only online link I could find of it streaming online.

Passion Pit – Cuddle Puddle

Bless you Ted Lange. It takes courage to server tasty sweet poisson with a smile.

Low End Job Searching in Todays World

So I swallowed my pride a long time ago and went as low as looking for work in fast food restaurants. Its been almost 5 years or more since the last time I was job hunting in this area. Long gone are the “Now Hiring” signs in store windows. When you walk into a fast food place asking about employment 95% of them direct you to their webisite. Once at their website you fill out the same info you would on a paper application with the exception of those dumb tests that you’d have to be an idiot to answer wrong. So the online application is good for 2 weeks most times. Then they require you to fill out another online one to continue to be considered. I am in round to of applying to all the fast food restaurants in the area. One of them has to call soon. In case your interested they all seem to pay $6.65 an hour. At this point that sounds really good.

Daysleeper

I almost forgot about this song. It came out at a time when I was working overnights at the news paper. Sort of a meaningless song, but has some great lines

“All talk of circadian rhythm….”

“I see today with a newsprint fray
My night is colored headache grey
Don’t wake me with so much…”

“Fluorescent flat caffeine lights
Its furious balancing…”

Are you Ready for Neo Hippies?

Something was bound to happen soon. There can only be so many years of stagnation. It makes some sense given the global climate we are coming into. Americans can only be so selfish for so long. This is going to be confusing if you can not shake the old image of hippie out of your mind. The reason it failed over 30 years ago was the lack of incorporating capitalism into the scene properly. When you want change you can not expect to change everyone. You just want to sway the majority to your side. Without the opposing side there is no way for your side to even exist.

There is no real freedom. Never has been. Even when your total free you are always facing the opposition that wants to control your behavior. That is the reason you “feel” free in the first place. When you opening buck the system you get attention and get people thinking. Their conclusion and who they side with is not the important part. It is the fact they are thinking that is important. Lead by example and that that risk. When the opposition confronts you then you need to dare them to look the other way. Hence my statement of lead by example. Anyone forcing there ideas on you is not genuine or rightious, they are afraid.

Your going to see communal activity is all matters of life. From work to the home. If you look hard enough you will see this happening already. Take myspace for example. As useless as the information most people post on there is its still communal. In fact its communal and individual at the same time. Its sharing, gathering, and exploration. You might think this is a bad example of things to come. Think again. Everything starts out poorly in its infantile state. A baby looks awkward when it first learns to walk. Yet they still getting from point A to B and with time it becomes as natural as breathing.

I have no idea how long America is going to be in denial about the fact that we are not the greatest country in the world anymore. When that time comes I think we will be a much more productive, positive, and humble as a country. After all what makes you get your ass off the sofa when you are spending that 3 hours in front of the TV. Its the urge to piss or eat maybe. Basically you get up out of necessity. So far America feels there is no necessity to be a better country. Why would we, we are number one, right? So our current behavior must be correct.

The obama campaign is correct in saying change. Problem is that everyone thinks Obama is going to bring that change. Thats typical America logic. ” We want change and THEY should give us that change. No we need change and WE are the ones that can make it happen. Its going to take some very dark times for people to understand this as a whole. Look at a drug addict. Look at what lengths they go to to get what they want. We are all drug addicts to the American way of life. So far our stash has not run dry. When the day come and there is no more “American way of life” to get high on then we will be that junkie doing whatever it takes for a fix. That is if we can get our asses off the sofa. I’m afraid the “high” might take a generation or two to fade into dope sickness. Even in a dope sick state you only have two choices. Get high again and return to that comfortable feeling or quit and start a sober life. If you continue to get high it will kill you. If you get sober its never as fun as getting high, but you will live to see another day. Getting sober takes courage. Our we really the home of the brave? We shall see.

Google You Dirty Fucking Whore

I feared the day google invaded my space with ad’s. I don’t use yahoo for a reason. I don’t want a homepage full of crap and ad’s. You already have the google ads in the search results. I’m ok with that. I don’t have a screen shot of the ad I got while on google maps.

I understand googles only revenue is advertisement. I go to great lengths to block ads in my browser and it blocks 99% of them. I’m not your target market. If I’m smart enough and take the time to avoid ad’s then chances are I’m not clicking thru when they are scattered on a web page. I’m not going to go into a long rant on how online advertising works in the 21 century.

The google phone ad on the homepage.

The youtube ad while a video was playing. This is the most offensive one. I need a break today Mc D. Stop it with the ad’s I’ll still buy your fries I’m already addicted.

CNN live online

I could have swore that they offered this for like $5 a month and now its free. Anyways. I started watching it for an hour or so in the morning for my news source. Seems they let the newer anchors work the internet feed. They have some gal on now with a thick NYC accent. Its like watching SNL with Roseanne Roseannadanna. I thought they were suppose to work on a non regional accent.

Well thank NBC for yanking a lot of SNL stuff off youtube. This is the only clip I could find.

Teavana

I went to Adagio.com and they were out of most of the tea I buy. So I checked one more time for a loose tea place in town. I found one call Teavana. There is one in the Galleria and West County Mall. Mainly have ceramic tea sets . Most of them seemed Asian themed. Behind the counter they have what looks to be about 20 or 25 big tins of loose tea. They also server fresh made tea. They are a little more expensive. 1/4 or 4 ounces was like $9. Thats about 25 or so 8 ounce cups per 4 ounces. 1/2 pound lasts me about a month.
