Come August my blog will be 5 years old. I have decided to stop publishing here. I’m going to make a backup of the just in case. I will be leaving the site up, but as I said will not be updating it.

I started the blog when I thought I was going back to school to learn computer programing. I was blogging to prepare myself for writing in college courses. It had been about 10 years since the last time I wrote anything beyond a note for someone. So it was basically a way to brush up on my writing habits. Also I was interested in learning some design, html coding and basic site maintenance. Then as I started traveling. The site became an easy way for less techy people to keep up with what was going on in my life. Myspace and Facebook taught those people how to communicate in the online world and also made the blog less useful.

The final nail in the coffin was my stats on the site. I was getting more traffic to my blog from the links on my facebook, twitter, and flickr pages than I was getting direct links to my blog. Meaning more people get info about me from those 3 sites first, then goto my blog.
